Full Job Description

The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for maintaining professional, efficient service standards for Food and Beverage at Country Hills Golf Club. A key role on the team to assist with managing the daily operations as well as training and monitoring Food and Beverage Team Members.

Qualifications

1. Club Members

  • Develop professional, respectful relationships with the Country Hills Membership.
  • Serve Members and guests as required.
  • Be prepared to answer Member’s questions by being an expert in every Food and Beverage product offered at the Club.
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to member complaints.
  • Understand and enforce the Club rules and policies as necessary.
  • Maintain orderly control of Member reservations and drop-ins.

2. Country Hills’ Team Members (staff)

  • Foster a positive, upbeat attitude among all department Team Members.
  • Assist the Events and Experience Manager with Club events as required.
  • Training and development of Team Members focusing on the Club’s Core Values, Mission, Vision and Culture.
  • Develop goals, incentives, and celebrations for the Food and Beverage Team that are in line with the annual operating budget.
  • Provide consistent and clear communication to all Team Members.
  • Hold Team Members accountable for their performance when necessary.
  • Ensure seamless, open, and friendly communication between front of house and back of house.

3. Department Management

  • An on-floor presence is key to this role, including working nights and weekends.
  • To be a leader on the F&B team, and someone staff and members can come to for feedback or with questions/concerns.
  • Follow all food and safety regulations.
  • Ensure all established service standards are maintained.
  • Assist with weekly orders including liquor, beer, wine, and sundries.
  • Assist with inventory management and counting monthly.
  • Listen to Members feedback on menu items, as well as run regular research comparisons for pricing and popular items.
  • Assist with creating department schedules.
  • Assist with department payroll and control variable labour as a percentage of department revenues.
  • Assist with updating the POS System as needed.
  • Produce appropriate department reports to the Food and Beverage Manager as requested.
  • Assist in working with our vendors on clear communication, preferred pricing, and accurate ordering.
  • Work with our accounting team to ensure our accounts payable are up to date.
  • Organize, clean and stock all front of house Food and Beverage areas including stock rooms.

4. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within the food and beverage industry
  • Solid understanding of food and beverage operations, including service standards, wine pairings, and culinary trends.
  • Extensive beer and wine knowledge is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and knowledge working with different POS systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Relevant degrees, diplomas and certifications in hospitality or culinary arts are advantageous.
  • Must have a current ProServe and be knowledgeable of AGLC laws and requirements.
